Book Group: Frances Faviell – A Chelsea Concerto

Literary Event

Frances Faviell lived in Chelsea and became a volunteer with the Red Cross at the start of the Second World War. Her part of Chelsea was particularly heavily bombed due to its proximity to the river, and the author was often in the heart of the action. A Chelsea Concerto is her memoir of this period in her life, which vividly captures how Londoners were caught up together in extraordinary and dangerous times, and it has been described as one of the finest memoirs from the Home Front.
