Archives on Show: Tramways Posters

Our Archives on Show events are a chance for you to explore a wide range of materials from our collections by theme.
Each month you can see a handpicked display of original materials from our collections for you to browse at your own pace, and staff will be available to answer questions. Whether you are new to archives and curious to see what we hold, or you are an experienced researcher that wants to learn more, these relaxed events offer a chance for you to explore our collections by theme or format.
Trams were a common sight on London streets in the first half of the twentieth century, and the tramways service was managed by the London County Council from 1899 - 1933. The Council’s archives include a rich collection of posters created to promote the service, and in this session we will produce a wide range of original artworks and posters.
This event complements our current display London's Tramway Posters on show until 26 June.
Booking: You can book for a one hour drop-in session at 1pm or 2pm to explore highlights from our collection.
Did you know? You can access digital copies of the LCC Tramways posters via the London Picture Archive – where you can even buy a copy of your favourite poster.
